How to verify your voter ID card details through SMS in Ghana.
Following the new voters’ registration exercise which was done not long ago, the Electoral Commission(EC) of Ghana has announced that a nationwide exhibition of the newly created voters’ register will begin from September 18 to September 25 , 2020 for registrants to crosscheck their ID card information.
The EC of Ghana also assured the populates that there are options for those who registered to validate their information remotely at their own convenience. This could be achieved with the help of mobile devices through the short code 1422 (all networks), the directive stated.
Electorates who are able to visit various exhibition centers are reminded to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols such as social distancing, wearing of face and nose masks etc.
Ghanaians who registered and are not able to visit their polling stations/ exhibition centers to verify their voters’ ID card details are entreated to text and send their voter’s ID card number to the short code 1422 at cost of 30 pesewas. This will help them to know whether or not their details exist and are correct in the register.
The commission also gave guidelines as to how to get wrong details rectified. Registrants who have incorrect details should go to the nearest district office to make the appropriate corrections.
