Ghana National Science and Maths Quiz 2020.
The grand finale of the prestigious national science and maths quiz (NSMQ 2020) is set to happen on the 8th of October, 2020 at 2:00 GMT. This year’s final is between the Adisadel College, Opoku Ware School and the five times champions, Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Legon.
The one time winner, Adisadel College popularly known as Adisco, booked their slot to this year’s final of NSMQ by narrowly beating Achimota School and Keta Senior High Technical School at the semifinal stage of the competitions. The Santa Clausian’s have been remarkable in their journey so far this year and in the previous years. They have been to the finals of the national science and maths quiz for four(4) consecutive years, 2015 through to 2018 and are looking forward to claiming the title for the second time this year.
The Kumasi based, Opoku Ware School is the second school at the grand finale this year. The two times winner also trashed Accra Academy and Boa Amponsem SHS at the semifinal by a whopping 55 points and received GH₵3300.00 as cash prize given by ABSA bank Ghana. They won the competition in 1997 and again in 2002 and have since being trying to win again. Would this year be the third for the Akatakyie?
At the 3rd slot is the Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High, Legon. The five time champion showed off their experience by beating Kumasi Academy and Aburi Presbyterian SHS at the 3rd semifinal contest with an awesome 66 points. The school was awarded a cash prize of GH₵ 5000.00 by AirtelTigo for the highest scorer for the day and GH₵3960.00 from ABSA bank Ghana for winning in the money zone.
